My Thanksgiving Recovery from Full Knee Surgery

PART I--It's nearly 5 P.M., and we are sitting down to eat in a few minutes, since Deanna and Ashley had to work today. I am so thankful for my loving family members, who are willing to cook and clean for me, since I am unable this year. I am recuperating from a full-knee surgery, which I had a week ago. It’s going to be a long haul, I fear! Right now, we are enjoying lovely banter, such as why the turkey was cooked upside down. PART II--Bret told Deanna to stop being a Monday morning quarterback, so she had to ask him what that meant (Translation: It's easy to criticize when you weren't here to help!)? And, then Ashley and her father-in-law got on the discussion of letting the meat rest before you carve it. Ashley told him he needed to do that, and he insisted that it was a bunch of hooey, and that he'd never heard of that cooking rule! So, I had to break the tie, and unfortunately for Bret, he lost. PART III-—He then made sure to ask Deanna when she got home, if this was true, and she agreed that it was. Let's see, what else? The War of the Stuffing—I really like to have this once a year, and Jonathon was the only one who could make it, since Bret would never stoop so low and Ashley and Deanna weren’t here. So, he finally gave in and told me how stupid it was that I was “forcing” him to concoct the nasty stuff. PART IV--I did concede NOT to put it in the turkey. He thinks soggy bread is pretty much just wrong. So next year, I guess we’ll try the rice stuffing I looked up on Google.com. Oh yes, Deanna had to get her dig into her brother, Jonathon, about how stupid he was, because he poured the liquid pumpkin pie filling into the already baked pie shells she had just finished baking for the chocolate and coconut cream pie, instead of pouring it into the raw shells that were sitting beside them. PART V--Bret also pushed the wrong button on the vacuum cleaner because he didn't know the canister emptied from the bottom and dumped ALL the dirt on the dining room floor. Jonathon dropped his entire syrup concoction of honey, molasses, and cloves and cinnamon inside the glass jar he had pulled out of the microwave all over the kitchen floor! It's still sticky. It's been fun and real and pretty much just like all of you—good ol’ family! We love you all! Bret, Denise, Jonathon, Deanna, and Ashley Trone
